DNS Lookup Failure Help?

You will need to access your router and see if you are getting a live ip from your internet service provider. (note, you can skip this if you are getting internet while hardwired into the router). If you are then you will need to check your network settings. You can do this by opening a command prompt session (do this by going to Start then Run and type cmd or if you have vista or newer just type cmd and press enter.) once you do that type ipconfig /all and hit enter. See if the dns server is the same on your hardwired connection as it is on your wireless connection(note I am assuming you have a laptop and your wireless internet is not working.) The problem is all websites need to convert what you type into the address bar into numbers and your dns or domain name services is not working. Usually you will type in www.google.com and your computer will not know where that is you it asks your router who goes out to the internet to find a server that knows where that is. If you don't have an internet connection, you won't be able to go anywhere and if your dns servers are down, you won't be able to go anywhere despite having an internet connection. If you have internet and you want to try testing a different dns server, try 8.8.8.8, its a google dns server. You can also make sure you are pulling down your ip and dns from your router. All these settings can be found in your network adapters settings. If you need help finding this, google it or tell me what version of windows you have
